SoftWave TRT in Westford & Chelmsford MA

Becoming Balanced LLC is excited to introduce our newest device to the practice: SoftWave TRT!

What is Softwave Tissue Regeneration Technologies (TRT)?

Softwave TRT is Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT). It’s a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment of soft tissue, bone, and joint pain. Softwave TRT is the company that offers the only unfocused true shock wave technology device.

It is a treatment involving technology that applies short, frequent, and high intensity bursts of mechanical energy (in the form of a shock wave) into soft-tissue that is injured, scarred, or contains adhesions, is painful, or inflamed.

It has been nicknamed “The Stem Cell Machine” as it stimulates the migration of your body’s own stem cell to repair damaged tissue.

How It Works

SoftWave Therapy is an effective approach to healing the human body using acoustic waves to stimulate your body’s natural processes for self-repair. Inside of the applicator head, SoftWaves are created through the use of an electrode contained within a soft latex dome filled with water. When charged with electricity, the electrode creates a spark under the water. This spark creates a hot bubble of gas that expands into the surrounding water and produces the SoftWave that travels out of the applicator and into the affected area being treated.

These high-energy acoustic waves penetrate deep into damaged tissue resulting in increased mobility and significant reduction, if not complete elimination of inflammation and pain in just the first treatment. Additionally, electrohydraulic shockwaves have proven to have a 300% increase in small, medium and large blood vessels within 12 weeks following the first treatment. More importantly, these high-energy acoustic waves cause cellular walls to become permeable allowing exosomes to escape into the interstitial tissue-mimicking cellular injury which triggers the migration of your body’s own stem cells to the area for sustained long-term healing over a 12-week period following the last treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the treatment new?

No. It is the standard of care for soft tissue injuries in Europe for over 14 years and has been FDA approved in the US since 2019.

What is its intended use?

It is an alternative to steroid injections, pain medication, surgery and other therapies to treat musculoskeletal and soft tissue conditions.

How effective is it?

Depending on the treatment type, studies show success rates of up to 99%.

Is SoftWave better than other ESWT devices on the market?

Definitely. The therapy has a wider and deeper therapeutic energy zone than all other devices on the market. This results in greater healing as the energy is spread over a vastly larger and deeper area. Other companies promote acoustic wave benefits when in fact, most other devices are not true shockwaves. They manufacture a false shockwave which is painful, creates micro-trauma to the area and in some cases requires a numbing agent in order for the patient to tolerate the treatment.

Is it painful?

There may be mild discomfort, but patients typically don’t complain of treatment pain. There are also no known significant negative side effects.

How long is the treatment?

Typically, 5-15 minutes.

How many treatments are recommended?

Most patients will have significant pain and inflammation relief after just one visit. Typically, 6-8 treatments are recommended spread out throughout the course of 6 weeks for long-term results.
